This free printable monster cut and paste craft is a fun way for young children to practice fine motor skills and make a Halloween decoration. You don't need construction paper to make this easy Halloween craft thanks to the free print and use templates!

A printable template titled "Build a Monster" featuring cut-out components to create a Frankenstein-themed craft, designed for Halloween classroom activities and suitable for kids.

This post may include affiliate links which means I may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you.

This Frankenstein's monster cut and paste activity is a fun craft for preschool students, pre-k students, and kindergarten kids.

My nerdy side has to take a moment to point out that people call this creation Frankenstein, the more appropriate name is "Frankenstein's Monster." Frank was actually the "scientist" who created the monster. =)

Older children may not enjoy the activity as much, but that will depend on your particular child or students.

While this craft was designed with Halloween in mind, it's also a great activity to go along with reading the hilarious and relatable book Crankenstein.

Art supplies needed to use your free build a monster craft

You don't need much to make your cute Halloween craft! Here are the supplies you'll need:

    • Your free printable monster template (look for the download link further down the post. There's a row of purple arrows pointing the way.)
    • Printer access and paper or white card stock
    • Child safe scissors
    • Glue stick
    • Crayons or colored pencils

How to make your free printable Frankenstein

First, grab your PDF file from lower down in the post.

Print one copy of the craft page for each of your little learners.

Color the monster pieces before cutting out the pieces.

A child’s hand is coloring a "Build a Monster" printable, featuring cut-out parts for creating a Frankenstein craft, surrounded by colorful stationery on a table, ideal for Halloween classroom crafts and preschool activities.

Use child safe scissors to cut out each of the template pieces.

Glue the monster together. I recommend gluing the legs and arms behind the body, the hair on the front of the head, and the head to the front of the body. The neck bolts look great attached to the front or back of the head.

You can also add a craft stick to make a puppet.
