How to use your Valentine's shape sorting activity
This shape matching activity is great for pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade students. Younger children may find it too challenging, but that will depend on the particular child.
It's easy to use this activity in classroom centers, in a busy binder, or at home.
First, grab your free printable PDF file from lower down in the post.
Next, print out your pages. There is color, but it will print in black and white without impacting the activity.
I recommend using a heavyweight paper, like this 32# HP paper, or white card stock.

Laminate the cut outs page if you want to laminate them for a classroom center. Cutting the shapes then laminating makes the shapes more durable, but does take longer.
If you laminated the cut outs, you can provide poster putty to stick the shapes in place.
The laminated sorting mat page can be taped into a file folder to make a file folder game.

If you're using the shape sorting activity as a cut and paste worksheet, have your child or students cut out each shape with blunt tipped scissors.
