This Liberty Bell craft is a fun, hands-on project for a social studies lesson at any time during the school year.
Although no one alive has heard the Liberty Bell ring as it did during the time of Benjamin Franklin, computer models have simulated what it may have sounded like based on its E-flat tone and size.
You can hear the model and a recording of the Liberty Bell being struck seven times on D-Day on the NPS site.
The book The Liberty Bell is a great read for kids from ages 5-7 about this American icon. It has a "just right" amount of detail to teach younger kids about the bell's history (and famous crack).

This free printable Liberty Bell craft template is a no-prep way for children to practice fine motor skills, handwriting, hand-eye coordination, and gluing skills. It's easy to customize to suit your particular materials and lesson focus.
In addition to the cut and paste craft, each page also has space to trace the "Liberty Bell." This is a fairly easy cut and paste craft with only five pieces.
Materials needed for a Liberty Bell
This patriotic cut and paste craft is available in both color and black and white.
To make this craft, you will need:
- Your free printable (look for the row of purple arrows pointing at the download button)
- Printer access and paper or card stock
- Blunt tipped scissors
- Glue stick
- Preschool pencil or something else to write and trace with
- Colored pencils or crayons, if you're using the coloring page version
- Blunt-tip Safety-edge Scissors
- Blade Sheath Included is an Eraser
- Accommodates right and left-handed users
Coloring the bell is easiest before cutting out the pieces.
Once the pieces are colored you're ready to assemble the bell. Glue the bell behind the arch. Glue the two straps as shown in the preview image on the printable page, then glue the clapper in place at the bottom of the bell.
