Why This is the Perfect Lemonade Recipe for Kids
Before we get to the steps, letโs talk about the "Kid Jobs." Depending on the ages of your little ones, they can take the lead on different parts of this drink:
Lemon squeezerย
If you have a manual juicer, kids love seeing how much liquid they can get out of a single lemon. (Just watch out for any paper cuts or scratches because lemon juice stings!)
- โSAFE AND HEALTHYโ - This BPA free food grade ABS hand juicer will really help you live a more healthy life. You can use it to squeeze oranges,...
- โQUALITIED STRAINER TO FILTER THE SEEDS AND THE HEAVY PULPSโ - The strainer can filter out the seeds and heavy pulps efficiently while squeezing...
- โQUICK AND EFFORTLESS TO GET THE JUICE OUTโ - Using 9-tooth reamer design, this manual orange juicer can better fix the fruit and make it firmly...
If you don't have an official manual juicer, kids can strengthen their hands and fingers by squeezing the juice out, themselves.
Berry masherย
If you arenโt using a blender, let the kids go to town with a potato masher on those strawberries. Don't have potato masher? No problem! Use a fork or a spoon. Itโs great for coordination and, frankly, very satisfying.
Taste tester
This is the most important job. Let them decide if it needs more "zing" or more "sweet."
The Recipe: Fresh Strawberry Lemonade
This recipe makes four servings. To make more, just double (or triple!) the recipe.
What Youโll Need:
- 1 cup fresh lemon juiceย (This usually takes about 4โ6 lemons). You can swap store-bought if you don't have lemons.
- 4 cups waterย
- ยผ cup granulated sugarย (feel free to adjust this based on how sweet your berries are)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled (you can swap frozen strawberries)
- Ice cubes

My daughter LOVES using an old fashioned hand juicer to juice lemons! But we also use bottled lemon juice, too. I usually buy a two pack at Costco because we go through a lot of lemonade.
How to make strawberry lemonade with kids
Make the strawberry puree
Pop your strawberries into a blender with a splash of water and whirl them until smooth.

If you donโt want to wash the blender, just put them in a bowl and mash them manually.
Tip:ย You can strain the puree if your kids are picky about "seeds," but honestly? The seeds add a nice rustic touch and save you five minutes of cleaning!
Mix the lemonade
You can mix everything in your blender instead of in a jug/jar. Kids sometimes love pushing blender buttons!
Just add everything to the blender and pulse until it's all combined.

If you don't have a blender, or if you want to make your lemonade by hand, it's pretty easy.
In a large jug, jar, or pitcher, combine your strawberry puree, the rest of the water, the sugar, and your lemon juice.

Stir until the sugar has dissolved. This is a great job for little helpers!
Taste test
This is where the fun happens. Pour a tiny sip for your helpers and ask for their expert opinion:
Too tart?ย Add a little more sugar or a splash of simple syrup.
Want more fruit flavor?ย Add more strawberry puree.
Too sweet?ย Squeeze in another lemon.
Chill, pour, and garnish. If you used a blender to mix your lemonade, go ahead and pour it into a pitcher for a more fun experience.

Add plenty of ice and toss in some extra sliced strawberries or lemon wheels to make it look "fancy."
For the adults (or kids who love bubbles), top it off with a splash ofย sparkling waterย for a fizzy twist. We bought a Soda Stream just to avoid buying so much sparkling water. My daughter loves sparking water.
For a birthday party or fancy tea party, use plastic cocktail glasses to serve your lemonade.
- ADEQUATE QUANTITY - Our plastic martini glasses come in packs of 24 with a capacity of 6.25 ounces, which is perfectly suited for parties and allows...
- WIDE RANGE OF USES - These plastic martini glasses can be used as martini glasses, margarita glasses, cocktail glasses, mousse glasses, juice glasses,...
- SUITABLE FOR ANY OCCASION - These plastic martini glasses can be used for New Year's Eve, birthday, BBQ, wedding, cocktail, Thanksgiving, party, etc....

Make ahead strawberry lemonade
If you're planning a birthday party or a playdate, you can actually do the "heavy lifting" in advance:
- The Prep:ย You can squeeze the lemons and puree the berries 1โ2 days ahead of time. Just keep them in separate containers in the fridge.
- The Assembly:ย To keep the flavors as bright and fresh as possible, wait to mix everything together until just before youโre ready to serve.

There you have it! A simple, delicious treat that turns a kitchen chore into a memory. Grab some straws, head outside, and enjoy the fruits of your (and your kids') labor!
