Pop Up Father's Day card materials needed
You don't need much to make this pop up Father's Day card. Here's what you'll need:
- Your free printable (look for the row of purple arrows pointing at the download link)
- Printer access and paper or card stock
- Paper is best for this project, not card stock. I recommend heavy duty card stock.
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Crayons, pencils, etc
- A second piece of card stock or construction paper, optional
How to make a pop up card for Father's Day
Making this card is pretty easy!
First, download your file and print it. There is only one page.
Have your child color the elements to cut out on the right side of the sheet and the card base on the left side.
Cut the sheet down the middle along the dotted line. (Mine looks a little wonky because my printer printed it slightly crooked. The PDF file is correct - just load your paper more carefully that I did and you'll be fine!)
Fold the card in half, "hamburger style," with the printed side facing out. Cut out the pop up flap along the shorter lines.
Fold the flap up to crease it.
Open the card and position the flap so that it sticks out, into the card, as shown.
Cut out the trophy, base, and medallion pieces. **Note** the card will be more sturdy and "pop up" better if you leave extra paper around the trophy, as shown.
Glue the trophy medallion in the top section of the trophy. Glue the trophy to the front of the base.
Glue the completed trophy to the bottom half of the pop up flap.
If desired, cut a second piece of card stock, construction paper, or paper to size and glue it to the back of the card. This hides the pop up flap and makes the card more sturdy.
Give the card to Dad! See it in action in the quick video clip below:
