Bunny ear template easy craft materials
This simple craft is a fun craft for Easter parties, homeschool co-ops, library activities, and more. They're also perfect for pretend play, whether or not it's Easter time. It's a fun way for little hands to practice their fine motor skills and exercise their creativity.
You don't need much to make your own cute bunny ears. Here's a look at materials you'll need:
- Your free printable PDF (look for the row of purple arrows lower down in the post)
- Paper or white card stock & printer access
- Card stock is highly recommended, especially for the ears.
- Scissors
- Tape or a glue stick
- Crayons, pencils, markers, etc., if you're using the coloring page version
- Additional embellishments, like pom poms to glue to the nose, are fun but optional
- Paper trimmer, optional but a time saver
Although staples are quick and easy, they tend to catch in hair. I personally am not a fan of using staples for headband crafts, but it is an option.
There are three different options to pick from: a coloring page version with cute bunny ears and a face, pink bunny ears, and purple bunny ears.
The PDF also has extra band pieces so the headband can be made to fit each child's head. If you want to save on your copy budget, you could use additional pieces of paper or construction paper cut into strips.
How to make your own fun pair of bunny ears
This fun Easter activity is easy and can be completed by kids of all ages, with a bit of adult help. My kindergartener made hers by herself apart from a bit of help getting the band adjusted.
The first thing you need to do is get your PDF file from lower down in the post.
Next, print out the pages you want to use. There are two face options, a page of extra bands, and three Easter bunny ear template options. One pair is black and white, one pair has pink inner ears, and the third has blue inner ears. If you want ears only without a face, skip printing a face page and only print the extra bands
Color the ears and face, if you're using a black and white bunny/coloring page version.
Cut out the ears and bands.
Tape or glue the ears to the back of the bunny face. Alternatively, you can size and secure the band first, then glue your own bunny ears to the back of the headband. This is more realistic, but it's easier to put them at the front.
If you want the bunny ears to stand up, you'll need to use card stock or something to support the paper. My daughter had the idea to place a strip of tape down the back center of each ear. It's remarkably helpful! Taping a straw or craft stick in place helps, too.
Complete the headband with additional bands, as needed. Tape in place to fit each child's head.
Wear and enjoy!
