People frequently staple headband crafts together, but we prefer to use tape. Staples are fast, but they can catch on hair and hurt your child.
How to make a pirate hat craft
First, download your printable PDF file from lower down in the post. Print one hat page for each child making the craft. There are four different options and each is available in both color and black and white.
Here's a look at what you're getting:
Color the pirate hat and bands before cutting the hat out, if you're using a coloring page version.
Cut out the pirate hat crown portion and bands. Instead of fussy cutting around every little detail, your child can cut generally around the pirate hat shape.
Toddlers may only need the main headband section and one extra band. Older children will need a bit of a second extra band piece if they want the crown to sit across their foreheads instead of "perching" on top.
Tape the bands to make a crown that fits each child.
Play and enjoy!
