BEST COLORING MATERIALS TO USE

To make these pages truly pop, you’ll want to choose the right tools. Here are my favorite coloring materials for bringing these cozy ghost pages to life:

Alcohol markers

We've recently fallen in love with this set of Ohuhu alcohol markers. I used to buy Copics for several dollars each, so I need had very many colors.

This set of Ohuhu markers has a ton of colors and even comes with a coloring book, sparkly stickers, and a protective sheet so markers don't leak through and stain your table!

I do recommend using the provided paper to swatch the marker colors. As is totally normal for markers, the marker cap doesn't look quite like the ink once you color on every single marker. There are 48 colors in the set and an included cute swatch page on thick paper.

Alcohol marker are perfect for these ghost coloring pages because they're semi-transparent. Instead of giving you thick, opaque colors like an acrylic paint marker, they allow for subtle layering and creating a ghostly glow.

As I noted above, do go ahead and swatch your markers for best results. Many of the colors are pretty true to the cap color, but a couple are a little different from what you might guess. (This is totally normal for alcohol markers.)

My kiddo is absolutely in LOVE with these markers and has been coloring with them nearly nonstop since I opened the box!

Colored Pencils

You can't go wrong with colored pencils! Brand favorites like Prismacolor Premier allow you to shade in the cozy glows of the lanterns and rosy cheeks perfectly.

For a more budget friendly option that still has creamy color, these pencils are our favorites. You can see them in the pencil tube in the photo a little lower down. 

Gel Pens

Want to add some magical flair? Use metallic, glitter, or neon gel pens to color in the bubbling potions, stars, crescent moons, and glowing candle flames.

JellyRoll pens are the best, but they're also pricey. We're very happy with the Tanmit gel pen performance at a much more budget friendly price point.

Crayola SuperTips 

Crayola SuperTips are a fantastic budget-friendly option for both kids and adults. 

They come in a massive array of autumn colors (plenty of oranges, deep purples, and leafy greens) and have a versatile tip for both fine lines and broad strokes.

For the best coloring experience, I highly recommend printing these pages on bright white cardstock or a high-quality heavy-weight printer paper (like 28lb or 32lb paper). 

These options hold ink much better than standard copy paper and prevents tearing if you like to layer colors!
