Best Coloring Materials to Use

To make these pages truly pop, you’ll want to choose the right tools. Here are my favorite coloring materials for bringing these cozy spooky pages to life:

Colored Pencils

For a soft, blended look, you can't go wrong with colored pencils. Brand favorites like Prismacolor Premier allow you to shade in the cozy glows of the fireplaces and candles beautifully.

For a more budget friendly option that still has creamy color, these pencils are our favorites. You can see them in the pencil tube in the photo a little lower down.

Alcohol Markers

If you love vibrant, streak-free coloring, alcohol-based markers (like Ohuhu or Copic) are amazing. Just be sure to print on a thicker cardstock so the ink doesn’t bleed through!

Acrylic paint markers.

Lately I've been loving acrylic paint markers instead of alcohol markers. They don't blend as well, but they have vibrant colors and cost a lot less!

Gel Pens

Want to add some magical flair? Use metallic, glitter, or neon gel pens to color in the bubbling potions, stars, crescent moons, and glowing candle flames.

JellyRoll pens are the best, but they're also pricey. We're very happy with the Tanmit gel pen performance at a much more budget friendly price point.

Crayola SuperTips 

Crayola SuperTips are a fantastic budget-friendly option for both kids and adults.

They come in a massive array of autumn colors (plenty of oranges, deep purples, and leafy greens) and have a versatile tip for both fine lines and broad strokes.

For the best coloring experience, I highly recommend printing these pages on bright white cardstock or a high-quality heavy-weight printer paper (like 28lb or 32lb paper).

These options hold ink much better than standard copy paper and prevents tearing if you like to layer colors!
