I always loved when we were handed word searches in school (usually in a language class) because I have a system for finding words quickly. I love seeing how fast I can solve a word search!
Luckily, if you’re not as in to word searches, I have you covered because this puzzle comes with an answer key!

The benefits of word search puzzles
Printable word searches are such a fantastic tool to have in your parenting or teaching toolkit.
For one, they’re no prep activities. All you need to do is print them out! Print a batch and pair them with a patriotic pencil for an easy activity at your family or neighborhood get-together.
If you want the printables to be reusable, simply laminate them or slip them in a dry erase pocket.
At-home laminators are very affordable and you will start saving money (compared to going to a copy shop for lamination jobs) after just 10-20 sheets.
Dry erase pockets are even simpler to use. They’re basically extra sturdy page protectors that you just slip the puzzle inside.
Word searches are incredibly good for the brain and for helping your child learn new words.
They also improve pattern recognition skills.
And, of course, printable word searches are screen-free! They don’t require batteries, cords, or headphones. They’re the perfect activity for a cookout because they don’t need wifi and the sun’s glare won’t make them virtually invisible. Just print out a stack of copies and hand them out with pencils!
Free printable July 4th word search
This Independence Day themed word search has 20 Fourth of July & patriotic terms to seek and find! The puzzle also comes with answer key.
The words in this search go in all directions! They are forward, backwards, down, across, and diagonal.
Because I frequently see people asking about printables that don’t use up as much colored ink, I made different versions of the puzzle. You can download a full-color version with plenty of patriotic decorations, or you can go with the black and white version to save ink.
The word search puzzle is the same in both versions, only the ornaments are different.
Please note that these printables are available for personal use only. Feel free to use them with your family, classroom, neighborhood cookout, etc., but do not redistribute the digital files. Just sent your friends and family to this post so they can download their own copy!
