This printable diorama craft is a fun way for children to practice their fine motor skills, including scissor skills and gluing skills, and exercise their creativity.
The dinosaur figurines can be glued in place to make a permanent diorama, or kept free to be used as puppet-like figures.
However your child decides to enjoy this printable dinosaur play set, I hope they enjoy.

Materials needed to make a dinosaur diorama
First, you'll need to download your free printable diorama kit from lower down in the post. Learning Center members can log in here to download the PDF from their simplified, ad-free site.

Once you have your PDF file, you will need:
- Pinter access and white card stock
- Scissors
- Glue stick
You may also want an empty box. The back portion of the diorama can be propped against a box to help it stay upright with enthusiastic use. You can also glue the diorama pieces inside a box.
How to make a printable dinosaur diorama
First, print the pages you want. The dinos, eggs, grass, and tree are available in both color and black and white. Your child will probably prefer to color the puppet pieces, but you may want to print the colorful versions.
Carefully fold the bottom sheet of the diorama along the dotted line. Glue the vertical portion of the diorama scene to the bottom sheet.
***Note*** Your child may wish to use the two pieces as individual play mats instead of gluing them together. Save yourself from printing a second copy by asking before you glue. 😉
Have your child color and cut out the dinosaurs, then fold each base tab along the dotted line. The grass is too detailed to "fussy cut." I recommend cutting around all, or most, of the pointed pieces of grass.
Now your child can play to their heart's content! The pieces can be glued in place to create a permanent scene, or they can be moved around like paper action figures. My daughter says this is more fun than gluing them down. She also likes using her small plastic dinos with the play mat.
