This free printable fall word search is a low-prep way to keep your kids busy and learning this fall season.

This word search is fun for older children and adults, alike, and comes with two different options: a full color version with fall leaves and a black and white coloring page word search featuring fall and harvest related elements.

Benefits of word searches

Word searches are a easy, no-prep activity that are perfect for rainy days, road trips, and any time you need a new ‘trick’ in your parenting bag. They can also make a fun handout at your school/neighborhood/church fall festival! Pair these printables with some cute fall pencils to turn them into an autumn treat.

Word searches help reinforce vocabulary and spelling skills, plus they can help your child improve their concentration.

Word searches are also a great way for adults to keep their minds sharp, too. I know many readers download these to give to their parents as well as their kids.

How to use word search printables

I’m a big fan of laminating word searches so you can use the same printables year after year. It’s a great way to make the most of your ink! At home laminating machines are super affordable and pay for themselves in 10-20 uses.

If you want an even more economical way to make your worksheets reusable, get a set of dry erase pockets. They’re basically super duty page protectors. You can swap out seasonal worksheets and coloring puzzles so you can use the same set of printables on multiple years/with different children.

Both word searches are the same so just pick whichever you prefer. I know how frustrating it is when you’re low on ink and don’t want to print a lot of color, which is why I try to always have a black and white version of my word searches.

There are 19 fall and harvest related words to seek and find, including:

  • Acorn
  • Apples
  • Autumn
  • Bonfire
  • Cider
  • Corn
  • Gourd
  • Halloween
  • Harvest
  • Hay Ride
  • Leaves
  • November
  • October
  • Pie
  • Pumpkin
  • Rake
  • Scarecrow
  • September
  • Turkey

This fall harvest word search comes with an answer key. Hooray!

This is a more challenging puzzle with words hidden forwards, backwards, and diagonally, so it’s perfect for older children, teens, and adults. I know many readers use word searches and bingo games with their senior parents.

These printables are free for personal use. This includes use in your own classroom, with your scout group, etc., but please do not redistribute the digital files. Instead, just refer your friends and coworkers to this page so they can download their own copies.

Please use the download links for the word search printable PDFs – the images are just low resolution previews that won’t print well. Download links are located below the preview images and are highlighted with a grey box.
