How to print and use menu planners
These pages have printer safe margins, so they’re ready to print and use without worrying about custom printer settings.
I recommend printing on bright white 32 lb paper. It’s heavier and brighter than normal printer paper, which means your planner will look nicer and hold up better to handling throughout the week. This paper is what I use for virtually all of my planner printables – check out this post on the best paper for printable planners to see a side-by-side comparison of actual printouts on several different types of paper.
- Made in USA: HP Papers is sourced from renewable forest resources and has achieved production with 0% deforestation in North America.

If you’re feeling stressed, relax by coloring the black and white menu planner pages. They aren’t just boring spreadsheets – they have fun illustrations to color.
The pages do not have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks like many meal planners. Thanks to reader feedback, I’ve learned that many people prefer to plan just one or two meals (like lunch and dinner) and prefer to print off a page for each meal if they need additional space. Get a closer look at the layout in the preview image below:
If you use a three ring binder for your household planning, just print your page, hole punch, and place it in your binder. (If you have a household planner binder, be sure to grab these free printable bill trackers while you’re here on The Artisan Life!)
You can also print these menu planners to scale and put them in your favorite disk or ring bound planner. I’ve already done the math for you – just reference the chart below, print your page scaled down, then trim with a paper trimmer.
Make sure to use the appropriate hole punch for your planner system. Happy Planner Classic and Happy Planner Big have their own proprietary punch. Many of the six hole planner styles can be used with an adjustable six hole punch.
