How to print and use menu planners

Menu planning can help you stay on track with a budget or specific dietary goals. It can also be used to make sure everyone in the family gets to eat a favorite meal at some point during the month or to bring new tastes and recipes into your life. When I was a kid, we each got to select a least favorite food we didn’t have to eat more than once a month. (For me, it was mushrooms. For my dad, it was green peas.) Meal planning can help with that, too.

These pages are use-friendly. They’re easy to print and use because they have printer-safe margins. So many planner printables online have lovely full color designs that run straight

You can use the PDF as a digital planner on your tablet, too. Just import it into your favorite note-taking app! If you enjoy digital planning, make sure to grab this free hyperlinked digital planner while you’re here.

I recommend printing on bright white 32 lb paper. It’s heavier and brighter than normal printer paper while also being eco-friendly. HP produces all of their papers without deforestation.

Selecting a higher quality paper, not whatever’s in the copier at work, means your planner will look nicer and hold up better to use throughout the week. This paper is also a joy to write and color on – your pen feels like it’s gliding across the page.

  • Made in USA: HP Papers is sourced from renewable forest resources and has achieved production with 0% deforestation in North America.

You can place these pages in your household binder or put them on display. You can post them on your fridge or in your family command center. Keeping your meal plan visible in the kitchen can help you stay on track.

If you’re feeling stressed, you can relax by coloring the black and white menu planner pages. You can also check out all the free printable coloring pages here on The Artisan Life. There are tons of themes and I add new ones all the time! Discover the best gel pens for coloring in this post. Gel pens are my current favorite for coloring pages – I love the sparkle and the ability to color fine detail.

As you can see in the preview below, each day has a box for general meal planning and a box for desserts. There are not separate breakfast, lunch, and snack boxes. Many people end up having similar breakfasts and lunches each day and focus mostly on planning supper. If you need more space, simply print additional copies of the page you’d like.

If you want to place these in your household binder, just print your preferred pages, hole punch, and pop them in your binder. (Be sure to grab these free printable bill trackers, too!)

You can also print these menu planners to scale, trim them down, and put them in your disc or ring planner. I’ve already done the math for you – just use the chart below, print your page scaled down, then cut them with a paper trimmer.
