These printable alphabet tracing strips feature turkeys that are a great fit for your Thanksgiving preschool theme! Your child will be happily tracing away and learning their letters in just a few minutes with these easy to use printables. Laminate them to use again and again!
Tracing letters is beneficial for early learners. Tracing helps introduce the shapes and forms of letters, develop fine motor skills, and build writing confidence.
The dotted font on this set is slightly different from the font on font on the pumpkin alphabet tracing strips. By reader request, I found a dotted tracing font to use that has the M descending all the way to the base line. (The uppercase M on the pumpkin version only goes to the midline.)
Should I teach uppercase or lowercase letters first?
There are many different ways to teach your child the alphabet and to read and write.
Some educators and parents believe in teaching children uppercase letters first. They argue that uppercase letters are easier to tell apart and are less likely to be reversed than lowercase letters.
Other educators believe in teaching lowercase letters first since most letters are used in their lowercase forms. Advocates of lowercase letters first also believe that lowercase letters are easier to form because they involve fewer strokes.
And, of course, there are also people that believe in teaching children how to write uppercase and lowercase letters simultaneously instead of separately. After all, you have to know both before you can actually read!
(And that's without even getting into whether or not you should teach letter names or phonetic sounds first!)
That's why you can take your pick of methods when you use these Thanksgiving alphabet tracing strips. There are uppercase only, lowercase only, and upper/lowercase letters presented together.

The easy, no-prep way to use these letter tracing pages is simply printing them and having your child trace the letters with a crayon, pencil, or marker.
Markers are easier to use and glide across the page. Crayons provide more of a fine motor and finger strength challenge because they provide greater friction.
For repeated use, print the strips, laminate, cut into strips, and use again and again with fine tip dry erase markers. Have your child erase their own work for extra fine motor practice!
