Free self-care for moms
One particularly difficult day I started crying at my husband about how I couldn't pour from an empty cup any longer. That's when I knew I absolutely had to take some time for myself.
Unfortunately, finding time for yourself as a mom can be incredibly difficult. Even if you can fid someone to watch your child, you may end up feeling mom guilt. Maybe you feel guilty about spending money on yourself, or maybe you feel like you "should" be doing something else. (Like putting away that load of laundry...)
That's why I put together a list of free self-care ideas for busy moms that aren't painting your nails.
DIY natural bath & beauty products
I'm a fanatical ingredients label reader. I want to know what's in everything! Too many body care products have extraneous, and potentially harmful, ingredients. I know my daughter will want to use any lotion or soap she finds at home and I want to make sure it's as safe as possible for her.
Because many natural skincare products are expensive, I studied natural skincare formation with the School of Natural Skincare. I learned that natural, safe body care products can be easy to make and affordable, too.

Homemade cleaning products
The ingredients in many cleaning products, even supposedly "green" ones, are shocking. I always browse the Environmental Working Group database before buying a new cleaning product to make sure I'm getting items that are as safe as possible.
Unfortunately, many safer, healthier cleaning products expensive and/or difficult to find.
That's why I enjoy making many of my own cleaning products. Here are some of the most popular cleaning product recipes on The Artisan Life:

Free yoga
As a mom, I know how difficult it can be to actual attend an in-person yoga class. Although I'm not currently teaching in a studio (because of my kiddo), I am a Registered Yoga Teacher. I love sharing accessible yoga practices so you can do yoga from the comfort and convenience of your home.

Healthy, lower-waste home

What is positive parenting?
Positive parenting focuses on creating a strong parent-child relationship that is based on communication and mutual respect. It isn't a lax, anything goes "permissive" parenting. Positive parents set realistic standards for their children and communicate them with clear expectations. They also explain the "why," not just the what. Positive parents help empower their children and treat them with dignity and respect.
