When is the first day of winter?

The first day of winter is the day of the Winter Solstice. In the Northern Hemisphere, this is typically on December 21 or December 22.

In the Southern Hemisphere, this date is the Summer Solstice and the Winter Solstice occurs in June.

Why did my daughter color her gnome to have slightly purple skin? I don't know, but she really enjoyed adding sparkle to the leaves with her new glitter crayons.

How to use printable worksheets

You don't need much to use this first day of winter/winter solstice worksheet. You'll need:

Printer access & paper
A developmentally appropriate pencil
Crayons, pencils, etc for coloring
Dry erase pockets or page protectors, optional
