Printer access and paper

Glue stick or pot of glue and paint brush

I am a huge fan of reusable activities. It's easy to make this Halloween sudoku puzzle reusable when you laminate the page and use it in a math center or as file folder game.

Laminate the page, then cut out the answer tiles. Place hook at loop dots (for example, Velcro brand dots) on the blank grid squares and back of each solution tile. You can also use poster putty or even play dough!

Now the activity can be used over and over again, either by a single child working towards mastery or by multiple children in a classroom.

How to play picture sudoku

Regular sudoku has simple rules: fill in the missing numbers so that each number is used exactly once in each horizontal and vertical line. The numbers used are based on the grid size. This means a 4x4 grid uses the numbers 1-4.

This picture sudoku has a twist - your child or students use images instead of numbers. There are four different images (a pumpkin, a witch hat, candy corn, and a spider web).

Each image is used once per smaller 4 square grid and appears exactly once in each horizontal and vertical line. The correct number of each picture is provided as a cut and paste tile. (The picture below does not show a correct answer, it's just to demonstrate how to use the printable.)
