Free Printable Tracing Lowercase Letters Worksheet

  • Share

This simple lowercase letters tracing worksheet has all of the letters of the alphabet on a single page. It’s a great way for your young learners to practice their fine motor skills and lower case letters. I hope you enjoy!

This worksheet with lowercase letters was designed with pre-k and kindergarten children in mind. Older or younger children can benefit from it, too, depending on their particular needs and abilities.

Because this worksheet has the entire alphabet a-z on one page, it has relatively small letters. This means it’s best suited for extra practice for children who are already somewhat familiar with their letters. It’s not necessarily the best way to introduce alphabet letters for the first time.

If you’re teaching letter recognition to young children who aren’t already somewhat familiar with their letters and letter formation, be sure to check out these printable worksheets here on The Artisan Life:

  • Lowercase alphabet dot marker painting sheets
  • Uppercase dot marker coloring pages
  • Letter tracing worksheets
  • Alphabet books bundle
  • Bubble alphabet letters with big letters (upper case letter A is linked here)

There are many ways to use this tracing lowercase letters worksheet. Her are a few ideas to get your started:

  • As summer learning to combat the summer slide
  • In literacy centers or writing centers
  • For early finishers
  • As morning work
  • As seat work
  • With library activities

This worksheet brings your child or students ample practice on a single page. Each letter is shown in bold, then there are four spaces to trace each individual lowercase letter over the dotted lines.

How to print and use tracing letter worksheets

Children learn through repetition. This is especially true as they work to improve their writing skills!

I highly recommend turning this page into a re-usable activity by sliding the printed page into a plastic sleeve such as a dry erase pocket or heavy duty page protector.

I personally prefer “secure” sheet protectors with a flap to keep the page in place. They’re easy to keep organized in a three ring binder! Dry erase pockets are even more sturdy and better suited for classroom centers.

Because the letters are fairly small, you’ll want to use fine tip dry-erase markers or wet erase markers on reusable practice sheets. Chisel tip dry erase markers are too large to use with this printable.

HI, I like this a lot, but please be mindful of the formation differences between the model and the dotted versions — see m, q, t, y…

Hello! Yes, I’m aware of the differences. I even expected someone to comment on it. =)
The dotted versions are the standard alphabet tracing versions of the letters. I chose to go with a more stylized and playful version for the sample letter since it’s a type of font frequently used for children’s worksheets and kids need to be able to read that, too. Thanks for commenting!
