Are dauber dot marker coloring pages beneficial for preschoolers?
You know your little learner loves dot marker pages, but are they developmentally appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers?
Yes! Dot marker pages are easy and no-prep for you, plus they’re fun and developmentally appropriate for children all the way from the toddler years through kindergarten and beyond. Therapists even use dauber marker pages to help older children (and adults!) who need help with coordination and finger strength.
Dauber marker pages are a simple, inexpensive way to help your child develop important skills including hand-eye coordination, grip strength, finger strength, concentration, and manual dexterity.
How use dauber/bingo marker pages
The circles on these pages are based on the size of my daughter’s Classic Do a Dot Markers. The circles are ideally sized for this brand of markers, but they also work with other dauber or bingo style markers because they’re all basically the same size.
These are the exact markers we use. According to my Amazon order date, we’ve been using them for more than three years at the time of writing and they still have plenty of ink. However, they can be a little spotty when they’re first used for the day. If your dot markers are spotty, make sure to store them on their sides (not standing up vertically) and pounce them hard a few times to get the ink flowing. My daughter always wants too and them on end, so we usually have to pounce the markers.
To make the dot marker pages reusable, have your child cover the circles with pompoms, felt balls, or big buttons. If you really want to challenge and strengthen little fingers, have your child place the manipulative with a pair of tongs. Bamboo toast tongs work well.
