Dot marker pages are always popular with children ages 1-5. Older children can benefit from them, too, if they are still working on finger strength and coordination. I've received several emails from pediatric occupational therapists telling me about how they use dab it marker pages with older children.
Sometimes people wonder if 1 year olds can use dot marker pages. In my experience, yes. My daughter was about 16 months old when she first used a dot marker on a coloring page I created. I was shocked to watch her carefully dot exactly in the circle on her first try. Let your little one give it a go - you may be surprised!
Dauber marker pages are a simple, inexpensive way to help your child develop important skills including their hand-eye coordination, finger and hand strength, concentration, and manual dexterity.
How use dab it/bingo marker pages
The circles on these pages are based on the size of my daughter's Classic Do a Dot Markers. The circles on your printable are sized for this brand of markers, but they also work with other dauber or bingo style markers. Please make sure to print at 100% to ensure the circles are the correct size.
These are the exact markers we use. We have been using the same set of markers for more than three years (at the time of writing). They can be a little spotty when they're first used for the day. If your dot markers are having trouble, make sure to store them on their side, not standing up vertically. Pounce them hard, as needed, to get the ink flowing. I like to use a scrap piece of cardboard from a box.
To make the dot marker pages reusable, have your child cover the circles with pompoms, felt balls, or large buttons. For added an added fine motor challenge, have your child place the manipulative with a pair of tongs. Bamboo toast tongs work well and are usually inexpensive.
