Free October Calendar Printable for 2023

This free printable October calendar features a fun fall and Halloween theme that’s perfect for the month of October. It’s dated for October 2023 and it’s available in two different styles: a full color version and a less color version that’s easier on your printer ink. I hope you enjoy!

A fun tidbit for you: October means eighth month (think “octagon,” which is based on the same latin word) because it was was the eighth month in the ancient Roman calendar.

Now October is the 10th month of the year. The Roman calendar used to be based on the lunar year and began in March. The calendar was changed to include 12 months more than 2000 years ago, but the month names “September” and “October” stuck!

This is a Sunday start calendar. Please pay attention to this detail if you’ve been following along with my monthly calendar templates this year. Other months have been Monday starts. I had to change for October to make sure you had a full-sized square for October 31.

This monthly calendar template is in portrait orientation and has a spot for notes and to jot down a “top three” for the month. These could be top three gratitudes, top three to-dos, or something else. The choice is yours!

This dated wall calendar is perfect for marking important dates, due dates, work schedule reminders, important events, etc. It does not have ample space for daily planning for all of your family members. October and November have always been my favorite months. I love when the air cools down (but isn’t truly cold yet) and the smell of fallen leaves. I love pumpkins and warm cinnamon scents, too. That’s why this calendar has some yummy cinnamon and pumpkin spice themed clip art.

Other than the dates, this is a blank calendar without marked holidays. There are a few public holidays you may want to mark on your calendar:

Indigenous Peoples Day (formerly Columbus Day) – the second Monday of October and a Federal Holiday
Sukkot – September 29 – October 6 in 2023
Halloween – October 31st

Some other holidays, such as Diwali and Yom Kippur, can take place in October but aren’t in October in 2023. Sorry, UK residents, there aren’t any bank holidays for you in October! If you know of any other October holidays I should include on this list, please leave a comment and let me know.

How to print and use a calendar PDF

This free October calendar is sized for US letter size paper. Both pages are saved in PDF format in the same file. Just pick which page you want to use and make sure to select only that page (1 or 2) when you print. Also make sure to select print to “fit.” Here’s a screenshot of what this looks like in Adobe reader:

I recommend printing your monthly planner on HP premium paper. It’s thicker and brighter than “regular” printer paper, which means your calendar will look more professional. It’s easy to print your PDF files to scale and trim them down for use in a personal planner. I’ve already done the math for you. Just use the appropriate percentage from the chart below, print to scale (instead of fit), and cut away the excess with a paper trimmer.
